Meet Mike –

Mike Thorogood is a 45-year-old offshore worker from Aberdeen who came to me feeling stuck. He’d struggled with his weight since he was 17 and lacked confidence in his appearance.
Having already lost a bit of weight on his own, he hit a plateau — and wasn’t sure what to do next. With no gym experience and a strong dose of gym anxiety, the idea of walking into a weight room felt impossible.
Before working with me, Mike was overwhelmed.
He didn’t know how to lose fat and build muscle whilst shifting the rest of the weight.
He worked offshore for weeks at a time, then came home to a busy family life with his wife and two young kids.
He felt like his lifestyle left no room for progress — and no time for himself.
Despite reading my regular emails, he held back, assuming he’d need to join a gym and follow a strict plan. That just didn’t feel doable with his schedule or confidence levels.
He Almost Didn’t Get Started …
Like many of my clients, Mike was sceptical.

Plus, him and his wife enjoy a great social life with friends when he’s home on shore leave — and he didn’t want to feel like he had to give that up either.

The answers I gave helped put his mind at ease and made him feel a lot more confident about getting started.
He quickly realised it wasn’t about overhauling everything overnight. We focused on realistic, sustainable changes he could manage both offshore and at home.
Bit by bit, he began to feel stronger, healthier, and more confident.

✅ Went from XL t-shirts to wearing mediums
✅ Had to get his kilt refitted for his new frame
✅ Built visible muscle in his chest, arms and shoulders
✅ Can now smash out over 20 press-ups and do pull-ups

✅ Even uses the offshore rig gym with confidence
